On Tuesday, May 6th, FCA-KC was blessed to receive God's favor once again as we conducted the 16th Annual John Erickson Golf Classic. There were hints of rain, but the weather remained stable and beautiful as Coach Erickson enlisted the prayers of the pastors in attendance. FCA-KC thanks all of this year's participants, who blessed us with many great comments and compliments. Each team included at least one area coach or pastor, and even a few local FCA staff members. The fun, the fellowship, the course and the competition proved to be tremendous, and in the end Tracy Boan, Matt Boan, Kelly Boan, Al Richart, Randy Righter and Christian Newsome emerged victorious.
Following the competition, participants fellowshipped over barbeque and heard the message of Coach Andy Carrier, who eloquently shared his heart, his reflections on many years of coaching and on the important role a coach plays in the life an athlete. Coaches such as Andy are among those whom we are blessed to serve as we share FCA’s values of integrity, service, teamwork and excellence.
FCA-KC extends our thanks to all of our corporate and individual sponsors, and especially to George and Beverly Shultz for their Platinum Sponsorship of this very special event. The Schultz's have faithfully served FCA in many ways over the years and their financial support is a true blessing.
Thank you also to our Golf Committee and Chairman Dave Owen. Dave has chaired this committee for 14 years, and would be the first to share that coordination is a team effort. The team went above and beyond this year! Sean Hopkins of D-X-D helped secure the PeakVision Sunglasses and his company underwrote the Mr. Goodcents lunches.
Because of everyone's involvement, thousands of athletes and coaches will be touched in a very positive way through the ministry of FCA. We thank you for your contribution to a ministry that takes combined effort, generosity and servant hood.
