On June 22nd the first ever FCA Battle of the Bands was held in Kearney, MO. Two Kearney High School students who are members of the FCA Huddle casted the vision a couple of months prior. They approached some adults and a local church for support and guidance. K-Love 97.3 agreed to partner with them for the event, and over 300 folks enjoyed a day of local music, featuring headliner Life in Jersey.
While the bands where getting set up, various speakers shared with the audience. Tre Stallings, offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs and Paul Coffman, former Green Bay Packer and Kansas City Chief, represented FCA as speakers. Both shared the message of trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life.
This event was a great example of how the Community Ministry of FCA works, and FCA-KC is eager to support local Christian music enthusiast or FCA Huddles in sponsoring their own battle of the bands. If you are interested in planning a battle of the bands in your area of the city, contact FCA Director of Campus and Camp Ministries Bill Stutz at (816) 892-1112 or bstutz@fca.org.
