For the ninth straight year the FCA Missouri Co-ed Junior Golf Camp was held at they beautiful Osage National Golf Resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri June 17th – 20th. This year 45 campers, 6 Huddle Leaders, and many volunteers and staff enjoyed a week of joyful inspiration and perspiration. Aside from a little rain on day one, the Lord blessed camp with gorgeous weather to compliment the breathtaking scenery. PGA Pro Craig Kanada was there with his wife and three boys and spoke to the campers one morning on the “ups and downs” of being a professional golfer. Then he went out to driving range and put on a clinic for the kids.
Throughout the week Rod Handley delivered insightful nightly messages on the theme, “Get Focused”. The four part series was broken down into: Desire to Know Him, Discipline to Trust Him, Dedication to Follow Him and Destination to Join Him. Rod was preceded each night by Jesse Land and John Morris who lead the group in a spirit-filled time of worship through songs and music. The campers then spent valuable time in their Huddles discussing these topics and learning from the college Huddle Leaders.
We had our first ever Hole In One by a camper! Garrett Hawk from St. Joseph, MO used a pitching wedge from 117 yards to ace the #4 hole on the Links Course.
Golf Camp continues to make a great impact for the Kingdom of God through the Camp Ministry of FCA, fulfilling its purpose to use the platform of golf to lead athletes to Christ and to strengthen those who already have a relationship.
