FCA-KC Trains Campus Leaders

Over 250 athletes and coaches filled the FCA World Headquarters on September 27th and 30th to learn how to effectively lead their respective Campus Ministries.  “Our goal was to equip each school to have the best Campus Ministry possible,” said Area Director Steve Bowman.  “It didn't matter if it was a veteran campus or a brand new Huddle.”

“This year we really focused on the whole package of being a leader,” said Bill Stutz, FCA-KC Director of Campus and Camp Ministries.

Campus leaders learned about vision, leadership and practical planning techniques.  “I thought hearing how to plan and recruit was the most beneficial part,” shared one coach.  In addition, Huddle Leaders were able to interact with one another and share ideas.  In one session, campus leaders presented their questions to each other and then worked together to find solutions under the guidance of FCA staff.

During the student sessions, coaches were able to meet with FCA-KC Director of Coaches Ministry Ryan Krzykowski to learn more about the Coaches Ministry and gain perspective about their role as the FCA Huddle Coach on their campus.  The networking opportunities were not for students alone.  “Huddle Training offers opportunities for coaches to see the big picture of FCA Campus Ministry, and to be instructed, blessed and encouraged by our team,” said Krzykowski.  “But maybe most importantly, coaches from around the area have a chance to connect with each other.”

The vision of FCA is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches, so training athletes and coaches to impact their campuses is key to seeing the FCA vision become a reality in the Kansas City area.  “Leadership training is a vital part of what we do with Campus Ministry,” according to Amy Vanarsdall.  “I can’t think of any higher calling than investing in the student leaders who then have the chance to really impact their campus for Jesus.  We're equipping the future leaders of not just FCA but the church as whole.  Now that’s exciting!”

Area Representative Amy Vanarsdall trains athletes and coaches on leadership based on the prayer of David in 1 Chronicles 29:10-20.

Student broke up into their individual Huddles to plan their school year.
