Chiefs Faith and Family Day

On Saturday, August 29th, three local ministries teamed up with the Kansas City Chiefs to hold the second annual Faith and Family Day outside Arrowhead Stadium before the Chiefs played the Seattle Seahawks. K-LOVE, Bott Radio Network, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes partnered to provide a fun event for people to enjoy and to fellowship together through the music and the words coming from the stage.

The evening started with the RezLife Youth Band from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection performing an upbeat set of their worship music for the crowd gathering in the Fan Zone outside Arrowhead. Next, FCA-Metro Kansas City Director Mark Gassman introduced FCA President Les Steckel who shared words of encouragement and faith with the crowd. He spoke of the difference in his life when Jesus Christ went from being his Savior to his Lord. He ended his message with examples of true sacrifices in life, especially those heroes running into the buildings on September 11th. Following Coach Steckel, the gathered were treated to more outstanding music. Dusty Workman, Travis Martin and the Grace Community Church Praise Band continued the spirit of worship with their brand of music. At one point during their set, people on the ramps going into the stadium stopped and were dancing and singing along. The Faith and Family Day concluded with former Chief's quarterback Trent Green taking the stage. He spoke about his life of faith and the ways it worked throughout different chapters of his life. At the conclusion of his remarks, Trent took questions from the assembled crowd with the help of some of the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders.

We are definitely looking forward to next year's Faith and Family Day event. It was a great collaboration between many different organizations who all share the same desires and passions. Thanks to all who attended and who helped make the evening a success.
