Coaches Workshop Is a Dream Come True

"I have always desired a Christian Coaches conference in KC, but never believed it would ever happen.  This has been an unexplainable blessing to me."

- K. Dean Snell (Head Soccer Coach - Blue Valley HS)

On Saturday, January 30th, Coaches from all over the KC Metro, Lawrence and parts of Missouri gathered at the FCA National Support Center for a workshop with Coach/Author/Nationally Known Speaker Rod Olson.  Coach O led a 2-hour session that spoke to Coaches at all levels of sport, from youth through college.

The room was full of Coaches who heard about coaching athletes at a heart level, and that there is more to working with their players than X’s and O’s.  Rod also shared that the most enduring teaching motivates others out of love.  He discussed serving with integrity, providing proper feedback, focusing on process rather than results, valuing people over productivity, and demanding excellence of ourselves and others.

Here's a sample of the feedback received from Coaches who attended.

"I know I will be incorporating some of this very quickly.  Very inspirational!" - Kim White

"Very motivating and inspirational...I pray I can do this with my family, friends, students, athletes and co-workers" - Joel Staponski

"It was awesome.  Exactly what I needed in my life." - Eric Driskell

"Awesome!  So many practical ideas that I can begin to use immediately." - Anna Nutt

Instrumental in the success of the workshop was the effort put in by our team of volunteers.  These men and women, Evan and Billie Skurdal, Kevin LeDuff and Ferryl Gibson, worked behind the scenes and took care of every detail to ensure that our Coaches and guest speaker were taken care of with excellence.

If you weren't there you really missed out.  But the good news is that plans are already being discussed to bring Coach Olson back to KC in 2011 for the next Coaches of Excellence workshop.
