The 4th Annual FCA Heart of America Leadership Camp was held for the second year at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. Over 160 campers from the Midwest, along with 19 Huddle Leaders and a staff of 23, had a great time as they unpacked the GET FOCUSED theme based on Philippians 3:7-21. “[Camp] gave me confidence to go back to my school and be a leader for Christ,” said Adam, age 16.
Ray McElroy, former NFL defensive back from Chicago, IL was the camp Chaplain for the week and worship was led by One Way Caravan out of St. Louis, MO. Evening assemblies set the tone for camp as Ray challenged the campers to understand the concepts of desire, discipline, dedication and destination according to the passage in Philippians. In addition to the evening assemblies, campers participated daily in Huddles and Leadership Training classes and workshops. Each day, they completed either competitions, a service project at Harvesters, or team building exercises led by area staff.
“Camp made me realize that I have more influence on others than I can comprehend,” said Aaron, age 18.
