Featured Speaker
Rick Attig

Coach Attig was an NCAA All American in the javelin at SE Missour State University. His first coaching position was at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he coached the jumps, throws and the hurdles. After two years at Central he moved to Raytown South High School where he coached the jumps and developed a summer club for decathletes.

After seven years in Raytown coach Attig was asked to coach the jumps and the multi events at the University of Kansas. He stayed at KU for sixteen years then moved north to the University of Nebraska. After enjoying five great years as the pole vault and multi events coach for the Huskers he moved back to the high school level. Coach Attig is going into his seventh season as the boys and girls head track and field coach at Blue Valley North High School.

He has coached dozens of conference champions and collegiate All-Americans, multiple conference and national record holders, and one national record holder (Scott Huffman in the pole vault). Coach Attig also served as the USA Track and Field national pole vault chairman from 1990-1998.
